The Complete & Independent Guide to the
Eurovision Song Contest 1956 - 2014

Since 2008 we have published our annual complete and independent guide to the Eurovision Song Contest. Each year we fully update and expand the guide to include even more facts and statistics. Each edition is split into three sections:

Section 1 - A full country by country guide to how the participating artist and the songs they are singing were selected for the current Contest. It is completely revised each year and contains some entertaining and often incredible stories from broadcasters' internal selection procedures including interminable competitions, in-fighting, vote-rigging and other nefarious goings-on. It is also interesting to see how many artists keep trying until they finally succeed in their dream to represent their country at Eurovision.

Section 2 - Every Eurovision Song Contest from 1956 to date. The full voting tables, participants, composers and lyricists. Including all the semi-finals.

Section 3 - A feast of statistics. Curious as to who votes for who? Does neighbourly or diaspora voting really exist? Where is it best to perform in the running order? All the evidence is here. Average age and gender of previous winners back to 1956, five year history of the language each country has performed their songs in, analysis of the type of entry from each country this year, worst semi-final runs since last qualifying for the Final, analysis of the best and worst semi-finals to compete in compared to success in the Final, national spokespersons & order of announcing the votes. New for the 2014 edition is a voting round by round scoreboard to show how the Contest winners and losers moved position as each country announced its votes.
